I am very pleased to say that the full proceeds of the sale of this original (£70.00) has been donated to the The Greek Cat Welfare Society. For each limited edition Giclee print sold I will donate £5.00.

I love visiting Greece but the only thing that fills me with great sadness is the plight of the stray cats with their daily struggles particularly in the winter. I support the chartity above which does a lot of amazing work with volunteers working all hours to do what they can to help.

I wanted to start a series of paintings based on actual cats I have seen in Greece. Partly because it means a lot to me and partly that in the hope of selling originals and prints from these series I will make contributions to the charity.

With this particular painting when I was walking along I saw this cat on the wall just staring out to sea (as they like to do!). It was a stormy night and this inspired me to paint this.

It is more muted in colour than usual but I wanted to keep a hint of brightness in the sky as an essence of what was fading as the storm was brewing. To me this painting represents not just the onset of a storm one night and the fading summer but the onset of the winter struggles for the cats in Greece (without tourists to help feed them).

Limited edition prints

This image has a limited edition run of no more than 50 prints and will be personally signed and numbered. A certificate of authenticity will also be supplied.

The maximum size available is 11" x 11". Smaller prints are available as part of the limited edition count. Please contact me if you have a particular size in mind for a quote.

The prints are Giclee fine art prints and printed on a high quality art paper called Hahnemuehle German Etching at a good quality weight of 310gsm. The paper has a light texture to it to bring out the original texture of an acrylic painting or imitate the texture of an original watercolour painting. The paper has archival qualities. Combined with a fade resistant archival ink, it should give a print life of around 80+ years.

As with any work of art placing the item in direct sunlight can cause fading and therefore this should be avoided. Additionally, the materials used for mounting and framing should be acid‐free to avoid yellowing over time.

The print is colour matched as close as possible to the original but some vivid colours cannot be exactly reproduced in the printing process. Additionally all monitors vary so the image you see may have a minor variance to the print received. I personally colour match my prints and spend a lot of time to achieve as much accuracy as possible. A minor amount of cropping from the original may also have been necessary to produce the print.

The print will be well protected and will be sent by Royal Mail services with insurance cover.

Turnaround time is 2‐3 weeks from cleared payment which can be made by cheque or online bank transfer.
